Dagaz Rune Meaning

The Meaning of the Dagaz Rune has a very simple explanation. The rune most literally translates into the English word “day.” However, this is an over-simplification which may be degenerated with the modern constructed mind. The proper meaning of the Dagaz Rune refers to the balance of a full day which is expressed in the appearance of the rune itself.

The physical structure of the Dagaz rune is very similar to the Jera rune. The Dagaz Rune reveals two seemingly polarized parts that create the whole. For example, the day consists of two parts; Day and Night. A day, as it was properly understood by our ancestors was first birthed by the night. It was only the second part that was daylight. In our inversed modern epoch, this meaning has been obscured. Moderns believe a day to be only the period of sunlight. A full day is considered to be followed by the night time. Understand that this view is just incorrect and is a result of the corrupted mind made by modernity.

You may have noticed that the Dagaz rune is very similar to the infinity symbol. This is also a very proper orientation towards the rune. We can also imagine that Dagaz appears as an hour glass representing time. The twisting in the center of the rune also portrays the concept of a cycle. It represents the death of an age and the beginning of a new one. An inversion of the last age makes the new age possible. Ragnarok, for example, is the end of an epoch, but the beginning of another golden era. In conclusion, we can see this rune has two major underlying meanings. Dagaz is a rune of balance, but is also a rune of change and extreme transformation.
