Mannaz Rune Meaning
Pronounced: “ MAHN-nawz
Also known as Mann, Madr, Madhr, Madthr, Madthur, Manna, Mannar, Mannazold
It has been said that the Mannaz rune represents the concept of mankind. However, this is not absolutely true and should be taken with a grain of salt. The Mannaz rune is very similar in shape to the Ehwaz rune. Perhaps, it is more true to say that the Mannaz Rune Meaning represents the link between the gods and mankind. Like the Dagaz Rune, Mannaz has a twisting in its physical structure. The twisting of the rune in the middle of the rune represents how the fate of the gods and mankind are intricately linked in a way that cannot be undone. The shape is also representative of two Wunjo runes facing each other. One can be said to represent man, and the other, the gods.
Mannaz has ties to the Indian word Manu. Manu was the originator of mankind. Thus Mannaz represents man in his perfect and original state. The rune is symbolic of man without the degeneration that exists today. Man is a partner with the gods. If this rune represents mankind alone, then it represents the divine aspect of man, and his destiny.
