Sowilo Rune Meaning

Pronounced: SOW-wee-LO

The Sowilo Rune is also known as Sol, Sowulo, Sigil

Sowilo is the sixteenth rune of the Elder Futhark and the last rune of the Heimdall’s aett. Sowilo is the rune of the extreme strength, embodying and channelling the power of the sun whose it symbolizes the energy and the light. Literally, this rune is the vital principle of the solar light. Sowilo also represents, as its form may assume, the power of the lightning bolt. Or more particular, the rays of the sun which are present on the solar wheels found all across Europe.

The Sowilo rune triumphantly resists the negative forces of death and destruction. Its existence is a proclamation of the never ending triumph of light over the darkness. This rune illuminates the objectives that man, as a divine being wants to reach and achieve.
